Cowdenbeath are The Shire's first match

The Shire will face Danny Lennon's Cowdenbeath at Lesser Firs Park on the opening game of the 2009/10 season.

Shire fans will be looking at this as a somewhat grudge match after the way the team were knocked out of last seasons League Play-Offs but manager Jim McInally and his team will just be looking for the 3 points and a better start than the team had last season.

Due to SFA rules the full fixture list can not be posted on this website, but other notable matches are:

15 Aug: Annan Athletic A - This is our first away match of the season

7 Nov: Queens Park A - Our first trip to Hampden

And over Christmas:

Dec 19 : Albion Rovers H

Dec 26: Cowdenbeath A

Jan 2 : Elgin H

Jan 9: Queens Park H

In other news the club have announced that Marc McKenzie, Derek Ure, Michael Bolochoweckyj, Craig Donaldson, David King and Dean Richardson have all signed new deals for next season. Sean Anderson has decided that his future lies at Montrose and has signed a 2 year deal with Steven Tweed's side.

Season tickets are still on sale and remain at the discount price of £90 for adults until 30th of June. Season tickets can be purchased through the Official Website or by sending a cheque to the offices at Firs Park.

Fans also played the final game ever at Firs Park, as the under 25's went on to win the game 6-3. The day was well attended by supporters both young and old and everyone had a fantastic day, and a day that many will never forgot (especially those who had a 5 minute cameo role and scored with there first touch). Fans also sang the praise of Jimmy Wilson who recently passed away, there were a few tears as the mans influence was and will continue to be greatly missed. The club have also announced that they have approached the SFL and asked for special permission to have the great man's name on next season's shirts.
